PR-10,000 Phosphate Remover Concentrate
PR-10,000 is a highly concentrated, all-natural rare earth phosphate remover. It is formulated to react with phosphates in water, allowing for them to be removed from solution. It reacts with all known types of phosphates on contact, and hardens them into a fine precipitate, which falls out of solution. The inert phosphates then floc out, to be vacuumed or filtered out of the pool. PR-10,000 causes cloudiness, which can last anywhere from a few hours to a few days. Use as needed, and do not exceed the recommended dosage unless otherwise specified (see below).
Because of PR-10,000's concentration, a little goes a long way. A dose of PR-10,000 may be surprisingly small to you, but watch it work. PR-10,000 is one of the original Orenda Products, and is professional grade.
Why Remove Phosphates?
Phosphates are an essential nutrient for living contaminants in water, like algae. Unlike most other contaminants in water, chlorine cannot remove phosphates, because they do not interact with each other directly...so to reduce phosphate levels, you will need a phosphate remover.

While removing phosphates will not kill algae, it can minimize the growth/reproductive rate of the contaminant. This slowed growth allows more time for the primary sanitizer–usually chlorine–to sanitize and kill. So while phosphates do not directly impact chlorine, they absolutely impact pool chemistry.
Especially with the overuse of the chlorine stabilizer cyanuric acid (CYA), staying ahead of algae growth is a concern for every outdoor pool. Think about it...if you see algae, the colony's growth rate exceeded the kill rate of the sanitizer. According to renown chemist Richard Falk, your free available chlorine level (ppm) needs to be at least 7.5% of your CYA level (ppm) to keep up with sanitizing algae. Do the math and you will realize just how difficult that can be, especially if your pool is over-stabilized.
All that being said, removing phosphates can slow the growth rate of microorganisms like algae. Phosphate Removal is so important to pool chemistry that we made it our Third Pillar of Proactive Pool Care. And in the same vein, Minimizing CYA is our Fourth Pillar of Proactive Pool Care.

Directions
Just eight (8) fluid ounces can remove up to 2500 parts-per-billion of phosphates in 10,000 gallons of water. We recommend not exceeding 8 fl.oz./10,000 gallons for a normal treatment unless otherwise specified. This is recommended because of the impact on filter pressure. When phosphates are removed, there is a fine precipitate that falls out of solution. Too much precipitate at one time can cause high pressure in filters.
For pools with visible algae: We recommend using PR-10,000 immediately following a chlorine shock. Use 16 fl.oz./10,000 gallons for light algae, and a full purge dose of 32 fl.oz./10,000 gallons if the algae is severe. The next day, clean the pool and vacuum the dead algae and phosphate precipitate, and purge with CV-600 enzymes. Follow our Green Pool Cleanup procedure.
